Excellent Imagery! 2008-08-18 I have really enjoyed this book. As a life-long geography enthusiast, this kind of material is right down my alley. I found the book to be exactly what it is advertised as -- a presentation of mapping/cartography from the earliest existing examples all the way to the beginning of the modern age (ca. 1900). It was interesting to note how the lack of proper technology could skew our view of the world around us.
The only thing that I wish was different about the book is I wish that it would continue its' coverage through the modern age, to show how far things truly have come in cartography. However, as I mentioned above, the book never made any claim to include modern cartography in its scope. So, for what it is, I think the book is awesome -- I only give it 4 stars because of what I think it could be.
