Editorial Review:
This book describes the techniques used by volcanologists to successfully predict several recent volcanic eruptions by combining information from various scientific disciplines, including geodetic techniques. Many recent developments in the use of state-of-the-art and emerging techniques, including Global Positioning System and Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry, mean that most books on volcanology are out of date, and this book will include chapters devoted entirely to these two techniques. Customer Reviews
Average Customer Rating:
Brilliant review of modern volcano geodesy 2007-10-10 Excellent book for both Earth Sciences students and researchers. It offers a comprehensive review of geodetic techniques used in volcano monitoring, as well as a most useful chapter on volcano deformation modelling (with corresponding mathematical expression in the attached DVD). Dzurisin bridges the technical gap between conventional books on volcano monitoring and scientific journal articles on modelling. As such, it is a great support for teaching, for advanced students who want to specialize in volcano deformation, as well as for researchers willing to develop their skills in this field. Highly recommended.
